#AintNoCinderella – Stop Blaming The Victim!
After a BJP Leader’s questioned the motive behind Women being out late at night, Indian women have come out with full force on Social Media posting selfies of themselves out at midnight with the hashtag #AintNoCinderella.
Varnika Kundu, was harassed and stalked by two men while driving home around 12:30 PM in Chandigarh on Saturday. Thankfully for her, the police apprehended her tormentors, identified as Vikas Barala, son of Haryana BJP Chief, Subhash Barala and Ashish Kumar.
The first line of defence for the two men was of course, the local BJP leaders. Proving that party solidity is infinitely more important than trivial issues like women’s safety, the local vice-president, Ramveer Bhatti stated blithely “The girl should not have gone out at 12 in the night. Why was she driving so late in the night? The atmosphere is not right. We need to take care of ourselves.”
His comments have spawned outraged reactions across all cities in India, where women have furiously taken to social media to defy his antiquated and victim-blaming views.
Here is a look at some of the best reactions:

Way to go!
As for the men (and women) who point to the type of outfits the victims wore, or their alleged ‘immorality’, or the time of day the crime took place, we’d like you to take a solitary walk across a lonely river, contemplate your actions and jump right in.
The world won’t lose much.
