Place one of India’s most iconic, charismatic and witty actors onto a stage and watch the inevitable brilliance. Shah Rukh Khan wowed audiences in Canada and globally when he jested, articulated and quipped away life lessons and witticisms at the TED Talk convention on 27th April.
Khan spoke about a plethora of topics, ranging from his early childhood to the current challenges faced by humanity.
He spoke about his decision to move to Mumbai and his inspiring career. By the time he reached 40 years of age, Shah Rukh Khan had been in around 50 movies and 200 songs.
The advent of Social Media and the ‘Papparazzi’ culture however was a major challenge for the star. From people commenting on things he, did-or did not- do, to fans questioning his nationality and patriotism, to judgements being heaped on people through the safe channels of the Internet, the world changed for King Khan.
Regardless of all these trials and tribulations, the Star remains optimistic about the direction of his life.
“I’ve learned that whatever moves you, whatever urges you to create, build, whatever keeps you from failing, whatever helps you survive, is perhaps the oldest and the simplest emotion known to mankind, and that is love,” Khan sums up cheerfully.
He wrapped up his illuminating address with “The future you, has to be like an ageing movie star, who has been made to believe that there is a possibility of a world which is completely, wholly, self-obsessively in love with itself”.
Always the man for the big occasion is SRK!
