If you are brave enough, then drive down to Mamledar at Thane for their legendary, super spicy, tikkhat misal. Memorable stuff. Popular especially among the people on the go, it’s like a pick me up for Thaneites.
Today, we take you through 3 best locations that we think, offers the best Misal pav in Thane city.
Mamledar, Naupada, Thane Tehsildar Office, Station Road, Thane
This place is small, humble yet clean and well maintained. Mamledar reflects their dedication to quality and no wonder when a Thaneite thinks about missal then it has to be Mamledar’s misal. Serving since 1949, Mamledar’s Misal has to be tried to be believed! Go for the Tikhat (spicy) one and don’t forget to call for a glass of cold buttermilk on the side. One bite of the Medium Misal is enough to turn anyone’s ears red, and will have you reaching for chilled gulpfuls of Chaas (or Taak). The Maharashtrians use the term zanzanit (think ears on fire) to describe a fiery misal, and Mamledar serves just that. To prevent heartburn, they offer medium, teekha and double teekha versions. What is not negotiable is waiting in queue for a table. Renowned for its spiciness, served with finely chopped onion and farsan with a layer of oil which you just ignore as the dish which is outstanding.

They have mild, medium and spicy version of misal. They also serve kolhapuri and puneri misal apart from their house special “Suruchi Misal”. The spicy one is extremely spicy definitely not for the cry babies. You will note that the service is speedy for a misal joint.
The taste of the misal too is authentic and seemed more value for money. Also don’t forget to have buttermilk along with served fiery missal. Suruchi Misal house do provide take aways incase you prefer to eat in the luxury of your home. We must say that we were quite impressed with their packing.

Hotel Amantran, Nand Vihari, Dr Moose Marg, Thane West, Thane
This is definitely the place for the die-hard lovers of Misal Pav. A very clean and tidy restaurant situated just 5 minute walk from Thane station on the first floor just above their delivery/parcel outlet.
You must go for “Misal-pav and Chaans (butter-milk)”. Again, If you love spicy food then only you should go for the spicy one which will make you feel like a dragon, medium spicy is not as “medium” as it sounds, hot enough to make your tears roll on your cheeks and out your tongue on fire. Of course, this description shouts out that you will need chaans or any other soft drink to extinguish the fire. The service is quick and staff is friendly. They accept cash only and no cards, recently they’ve started accepting PayTM.
